Go Sisters! This is a big programme that was also launched in 2001 in Lusaka Zambia.
The programme is run under the Girls Empowerment through Sport concept. It’s meant to allow girls to play, learn, exercise leadership roles, develop, discus, and have that space which is usually taken away from them. The programme is run by Girls for girls with girls. They also try incorporate boys so a way of raising a generation that will appreciate and respect each other.
This is a girl’s empowerment through sport program aims at empowering girls by training and equipping them with skills and knowledge to pursue equality. It strives to empower girls by building physical resources, giving social recognition and challenging some traditional gender myths.
It’s because of the great work that EduSport has done with girls so far that the foundation won recognition on the international scene.
In 2002 EduSport was identified and recommended for its humanitarian efforts by using sport to curb the HIV/AIDS pandemic and was given a sum of $25,000 by Prince Hackon Magnus and Princess Mette Marit of Norway for girls projects.
This money was used to hold a big girls tournament and start a program for girls and run by girls. The 1st tournament was held in 2002 with EMIMA from Tanzania taking part. Since then this event has been annual.
